Metro Exodus on Linux Mint

Tinkering

Game was crashing quite a bit until I switched to Glorious Eggroll 7-15 and set “PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamemoderun %command%” as my launch options. That seemed to sort it but I only played a total of 4 hours. Oh, and I tried native mode first but the screen wasn't displaying properly. I think it would run natively but the screen problem was annoying so I went on with the Proton compatibility layer.

Review

I couldn't be bothered to play this game through. Constant hand holding and cut scenes. Not the worst dialogue but there is so much of it. It's like the game devs had so much in their head that they just wanted to drop it into a game. Constant chattering and NPC's talking over each other. I can visualize the dev meetings right now. Let's do this, then this, then this, it's just a constant barrage of interruptions. I want to play a game not have a game play me. If you like this type of game that's fine and it seems to work fine on Linux with a bit of tinkering and I'm sure that will only get better over time.
