- | Did you know that there are several hundred protesters that have been held in jail without bail since January 6th and not a single one of them have been charged with a felony? From what I have heard I think most of them are being held on charges such as trespass and misdemeanor assault. To be held without bail on a misdemeanor for 9 months is ridiculous. I'm not sure about Washington D.C. but here in Idaho, if I recall correctly, the maximum jail time you get for any misdemeanor is 1 year? When I was practicing, people being held on misdemeanor charges were able to get bail or released without bail in almost all cases within 48 hours of being detained. Now, there were some exceptions, like really ugly domestic violence allegations you might spend a bit of time in jail while you cooled down. Violent felonies were a whole different story, but for misdemeanors defendant' |
