Call to Arms on Linux Mint

If M1 Tank Platoon II had a sequel it might have been Call to Arms. It has several modes of play but my favorite is Conquest. In this mode, you fight back and forth across several maps trying to push your way to victory. You can play by yourself or multiplayer vs multiplayer or co-op.

You can take control of any of your soldiers, vehicles, or armor. It's great fun and each match lasts from 20 to 60 minutes.

There's two things I don't like about it. Loot boxes given out at the end of a match. I just ignore them. And the game does have a reputation of crashing in Linux. I got it down to crashing about once every 10 matches, which is acceptable to me. On a good day, no crashes at all. I'll take that hit to avoid Microsoft Windows.

Tinkering

I found Glorious Eggroll 7-15 with PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1 launch options to eliminate a lot of crashing for me. If it does crash a couple of times in a row, consider rebooting your computer. Finally, I got in the habit of saving the campaign file between each match just in case it crashed. (If the game crashes during a match the game counts the crash as a lost battle.
